Jane Campbell – Chair

I am an artist, currently running South Island Workshop, a charity that specialises in making visual arts accessible to children from ages of five to fourteen. I am also the Child protection Officer for this organisation. The Workshop has been functioning for over thirty five years and is based in the Vassal Ward in Lambeth.

I have worked in art workshops in many different venues across the Borough of Lambeth, including schools, parks, libraries, adult education institutes and community halls on various estates, teaching both adults and children. I have been involved in campaigns to keep open amenities when threatened with closure by Lambeth Council, e.g. the Minet Library campaign of 1995 and the South Island Workshop campaign of 1996/97.

I bring project management, communication and organisational skills, as well as child protection knowledge to Bud Umbrella. I am married and have four children.

Darren Riggon - Secretary

I am a registered nurse with additional training in psychosocial interventions, counselling and massage therapy. I have worked in a number of clinical and non clinical areas including the voluntary, primary and secondary sectors. I am currently a manager at NHS Direct where I am the lead for practice development and clinical governance.

I have extensive experience in change and project management and am actively involved in clinical research and audit. I have a research and academic background in medical anthropology and currently teach part time at Guys and St Thomas's medical school. My research interests include sexual health, men and health seeking behaviour and medicine /healing modalities in multicultural settings.

I am very interested in creating a more supportive and holistic educational experience that incorporates the mind, body and spirit by the use of complimentary therapies to enhance this integration. I hope that my research and clinical governance/ audit background will help shape a more evidence based culture within Bud Umbrella that will ensure more secure and mainstream funding in the future.

A year after enrolling in the course at the British School of Reflexology, I qualified in reflexology and Anatomy and Physiology with credits.

I now work part-time, both from home and mobile and have a range of clients from children to 80 year olds. In July 2005 I qualified in Therapeutic Deep Tissue Massage, which combines the benefits of reflexology and massage for complete well being.

I am passionate about my job. I enjoy dealing with interesting people and giving them a chance to relax and improve their well-being through reflexology.

Jenny Crowther

I have followed Natural Health principles most of my life, and feel passionately that Complementary Therapies should be available to all, within the NHS. My past experience as a fulltime Carer and work with Statemented children within a Playgroup developed my belief that Complementary Therapies could play an important role in supporting emotional trauma.

I wanted to get involved, so I trained in Indian Head massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology and a further Certificate in Palliative Care for Complementary Therapists.

I now work at the Macmillan Butterfly Centre in Epsom Hospital, from home and offer taster sessions at Natural Health workshops.

Susan Larner

I am Susan and this year is my 20th anniversary of my very first Complementary Therapy qualification in Reflexology! In 1992 I qualified as an Adult Education Tutor through to Cert.Ed level. I began designing, writing and teaching complimentary therapy and holistic health courses, and pioneered the start of these for Westminster Adult Education Service, as well as other charitable educational organisations, in 1990. My intention was to enable people from any kind of social ethnical and financial background to have access to complementary therapies. I have worked on many children since 1988, since my own child was nine. My child’s junior school invited me to give the children talks and 'fun foot sessions’ which they further enjoyed with their families.

Having met Amanda and learning about Bud-Umbrella, during a major turning point in my life, simmering coals have been re-ignited and I am very happy to offer my skills and time to further Bud-Umbrella's aims and objectives.
